All boxed up.
The 6/7 carbon carrier on my Shimano Ultegra 11-speed cassette exploded on the first climb of the 1000k. It happened not far from where the route passes within 5 miles of my house, so I rode home and swapped it. I lost 40 minutes, but gained 10 bonus miles. I'm going to call it a win.
Pre-rode the Colorado High Country 1000k over the last 3 days. Scenes from that ride. Certainly not an easy route, but the scenery is something quite special.
East of Red Feather lakes. 82E is a hootin good time.
Round about Pennock Pass. A bit too early for some of this route, unless you’re ok with riding 100ft at a time.
City Park. Feels like the first day of spring.
The Flèche Vélocio. Not quite a brevet. Not easier, not harder, but I think more fun.
Shades of American mud. Deadwood, SD. Beulah, WY
Black Hills. Spearfish, SD
Wyoming coal and cattle country. You know the road is rough when Peterbuilts are shedding badges.
